Rolf hat mich auf eine Docking Applikation aufmerksam gemacht, ähnlich der von MacOSX. Die Version 1.3.3. ist nun auf Vista lauffähig und sieht recht nett aus.

UPDATE: Den Userkommentaren hier zufolge geht auch 64 Bit - die Webseite sagt anderes, aber dann ist das Update des Progromms wohl besser gelungen, als das Update der Webseite.
